Kelly M. Barnhart - Esquire
Kelly M. Barnhart first started working at the firm in November 2002 as an intern. She began practicing as an attorney with the bankruptcy group at the firm's Chesapeake office in January 2004. Kelly focuses her practice on bankruptcy and restructuring matters, and has specific experience in certain fundamental aspects of bankruptcy law, including laws affecting fiduciaries, the strong-arm powers of the trustee, and tax issues in bankruptcy.
Kelly is a member of the Virginia State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association, and the James Kent American Inns of Court. She is admitted to practice in the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, and in all courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Kelly attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College, and in 1998 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science. In 2002, she received her juris doctor degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Kelly was a member of the Moot Court team and was also a member of the Journal of National Security Law. Kelly enjoyed spending her last year of law school as a visiting student at the University of Notre Dame School of Law.
