Ann Burke Brogan - Esquire
Ann has been with the firm since 1991. She concentrates her practice on the representation of Chapter 11 debtors in bankruptcy and commercial litigation. She also has extensive experience in representing Chapter 7 trustees, purchasers of assets of bankruptcy estates, secured and unsecured creditors, principals of debtors in bankruptcy, and plaintiffs and defendants in bankruptcy actions. She loves to tackle special projects that require focused research on unusual legal issues. In her "Of Counsel" role, she has found a balance between a stimulating legal practice and the demands of raising a family. Prior to coming to the firm, Ann was an associate with McGuire, Woods, Battle & Boothe, Norfolk, Virginia, from 1986-1990 and concentrated her practice in the areas of banking law, creditors' rights and commercial litigation.
After graduating from Davidson College in 1979, Ann worked for three years in a management position in the Business Services Center of Southern Bell Telephone & Telegraph Company in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1985, she received her juris doctorate from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law, College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia, where she was inducted into Order of the Coif and Order of the Barristers. She is admitted to practice in Virginia and in various Federal courts, including the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia; U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit; and U.S. Supreme Court.
Ann is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association and the Norfolk-Portsmouth Bar Association. She was a member of the board of directors and officer of the Tidewater Legal Aid Society from 1987 to 1995 and served as first vice president from 1990 to 1995.
Ann was born in Alexandria, Virginia, May 22, 1957. After graduating from law school, Ann spent a year in County Galway, Ireland. In 1986, she and her husband moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where they continue to live with their three children.
