Karen M. Crowley - Esquire
Karen M. Crowley has worked with the law firm since 1994, focusing throughout her career on debt restructuring and commercial litigation. She represents commercial and consumer debtors in federal and state court, including commercial litigation, workouts and bankruptcies. Karen has extensive experience representing the other players in bankruptcy cases, as well, including creditors, committees of unsecured creditors, defendants in bankruptcy causes of action, trustees, principals of Chapter 11 debtors and purchasers of assets. She has actively participated in over 35 Chapter 11 cases, serving as lead or co-lead counsel in most of these cases. She has also participated in numerous Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases on behalf of commercial and consumer clients.
Karen's goal, when meeting with each client, is to identify a solution to the client's problem and implement the solution, utilizing every available resource, including litigation, negotiation and bankruptcy protection, if necessary. Karen is a leader in the implementation of the firm's objective, seeking to provide cost-effective solutions, and works closely with each of her clients in shaping and achieving this objective.
Prior to entering into private practice, Karen served as a judicial law clerk for The Honorable Hal J. Bonney, Jr., United States Bankruptcy Court Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia. She graduated at the top of her class in 1993 from Regent University School of Law and received her B.A. in 1990 from Oral Roberts University. Karen is admitted to practice in Virginia and various federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. She currently serves as the Young Lawyers Division Liaison to the Bankruptcy Section of the Virginia Bar Association and also serves as a member of the board of the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association. Karen has participated as a speaker at local seminars including the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar seminar and the Mid-Atlantic Institute of Bankruptcy and Reorganization.
Karen resides in Virginia Beach with her husband and their four children. She loves to play volleyball and is active in her church and community.
